Ca' Marcello is a Palladian villa built in the second half of the 16th century by the Marcello family, one of the most powerful and noble families of Venice. Villa Marcello was always a private home, a place of glamour and elegance; always open to convivial pleasure and at the same time a warm welcoming home. Count Vettor Marcello and his family live here now, happily opening its doors to those who wish to appreciate it's refined splendour. The villa is a beautiful and untouched example of renaissance architectural balance. The enormous 16th century complex in Palladian style is structured with a central main building which is flanked on both sides by arcaded wings (one of which houses the apartment) which frame an Italian style garden with a fountain, Greek mythical statues, flower beds, lawns and bushes. The park (70.000 m2) is fully fenced and rich in wonderful plants and is pleasantly framed by long rows of hornbeams, lime trees and oak trees, which meet in front of a lovely dove cote, a chapel and a large fish pond with running water. Other areas consist of woods with century old trees and numerous statues depicting realistic and fairy-like animals and humans.
Close to the main building, in a small private garden separated from the main park, there is a swimming pool (9 x 6 m, 1,60 m deep, open May 1st through October 1st, for the exclusive use of the guests) surrounded by oleanders, roses and hydrangeas. The garden is complimented by a gazebo, a wooden table, ten chairs, six deck-chairs and a barbeque/grill. A dressing room with pool towels (changed twice a week), extra chairs and small refrigerator is accessible from the private garden. Other amenities are a soccer field (inside the park) and three mountain bikes. There is an ample parking by the apartment entrance.
Nearby Ca' Marcello there are horse back riding facilities (1 km), golf course (18 + 9 holes. 15 km), tennis (5 km) and a shooting and hunting reserve (1 km). Close by are fascinating cities of art like Venice (35 min) and Padua (40 min), the romantic hills of Asolo (30 min) and Bassano (35 min), and the wonderfully preserved medieval towns of Castelfranco (15 min), Cittadella (20 min) and splendid Treviso (20 min).
Village for basic shopping (market, newspapers, bar, bakery...) at 5 minute walk (500 mt).
During their stay the owner, who lives in a separated part of the villa, will be pleased to help guests in any way, including advice regarding fine and exclusive artistic, cultural and gastronomic itineraries. Tours with guides and lecturers as well as transfer service from/to airports, train stations or other destinations can be arranged.
